About
Born and raised in Southeast England, Ian has always had an interest in photography and the potential this form of medium can capture.
Specializing in wildlife and landscape photography, Ian has traveled many exotic places and has captured wonderful moments of time that could never be repeated.
For example, Ian caught a wild dingo trotting along an Australian beach at sunrise while a bird of prey lazily soars for its breakfast from up above.
Another is a beautiful urban red fox –living in Ian’s back garden in East London no less!- balancing on his fence with Chinese chicken balls stuffed in her mouth. It turned out this fox had a den in the backyard and the mother-to-be was gratefully taking the Family's leftovers (you know that pregnant craving!). Incidentally, this fox had three babies in the end, and Ian and his family enjoyed watching the new family frolic in their yard during the entire summer!
And even something as common as cherries hanging from a branch, Ian created a beautiful photograph, capturing the simplistic beauty of something we ignore or take for granted more often than not.
Working under the slightly morbid company name “Asylum Originals,” Ian has many irons in the fire. In addition to created limited, hand numbered and signed prints of his original works, he plans to expand and have his photograph on merchandise like t-shirts, sweatshirts, and key chains.
But he is not as concerned with that aspect; he focuses on his photography, heart and soul. “I become completely absorbed when I am concentrating on a project,” Ian admitted, “that I can actually tune out the rest of the world. I can literally spend hours waiting for the ‘right’ shot.”
It seems that this talent runs in the family. His three-year-old daughter Hope-Eleanor Linda wanted her own camera for Christmas, and that’s exactly what she got. Father and daughter will be going out on special photography excursions this summer and hopefully getting some great shots they will want to keep.
Each piece he decides to keep and show has passed an excruciating and very critical eye by the artist. Ian only keeps what he considers his best. He has grouped many pieces of his art and can be seen as a series.
In the meantime, Ian lives with Hope-Eleanor Linda and his wife, Anne, in Northern Minnesota upon the Great Lake Superior.
